- THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH
-
- Act 5 Scene 7
-
- (Enter Macbeth)
- l1l Macbeth They have tied me to a stake. I cannot fly,
- l2l But bear-like I must fight the course. WhatÆs he
- l3l That was not born of woman? Such a one
- l4l Am I to fear, or none.
- (Enter Young Siward)
- l5l Young Siward What is thy name?
- l6l Macbeth ThouÆlt be afraid to hear it.
- l7l Young Siward No, though thou callÆst thyself a hotter name
- l8l Than any is in hell.
- Macbeth My nameÆs Macbeth.
- l9l Young Siward The devil himself could not pronounce a title
- l10l More hateful to mine ear.
- Macbeth No, nor more fearful.
- l11l Young Siward Thou liest, abhorrΦd tyrant. With my sword
- l12l IÆll prove the lie thou speakÆst.
- (They fight, and Young Siward is slain)
- Macbeth Thou wast born of woman,
- l13l But swords I smile at, weapons laugh to scorn,
- l14l Brandished by man thatÆs of a woman born.
- (Exit with the body)
